Facilities

warning

RehabAlpha is still under active development. It is not yet HIPAA compliant and should only be used with dummy data.

A facility represents a location where therapy services are provided. This could be a hospital, outpatient clinic, skilled nursing facility, or any other type of care site.

Data model

RehabAlpha stores facilities under an organization:

A single facility can have 0 or more (non-concurrent) contracts.

Furthermore, every admission references a facility.

Facility types

Every facility has a type. Valid types include:

  • Assisted living
  • Hospice
  • Hospital
  • Independent living
  • Inpatient rehab
  • Long term acute care hospital
  • Outpatient clinic
  • Skilled nursing

Facility type can be used to enforce rules, categorize services, and help with reporting.

Contracts

Optionally, you can define a contract with a facility. A contract determine who bills for therapy services and how the reimbursement is split between the facility and the therapy organization.

Discussion

A facility serves three purposes:

  1. Identifying where a patient's therapy occurs
  2. Delegating therapists' access to patient data
  3. Facilitating invoices and/or revenue sharing

To create a new facility, you must be an admin or have read and write access to all facilities. When you create a new facility, you must give it a name (e.g. Rosewood Nursing), type (e.g. Skilled nursing), state (e.g. Louisiana), and time zone (e.g. Central).

A facility's time zone is usually auto-determined by its state. However, states with multiple time zones (e.g. Florida) will allow you to pick from a list of options. We recommend inputting the facility's state and county, in which case the time zone will almost always be auto-selected for you.
